A Thrashing Release from Quest Kon-Fuse

A driving new release from Quest Kon-Fuse breaks out classic thrashing street punk with aggressive undertones and a really robust sort of honesty that gives the whole thing character and relatability, to be honest.
The Still Konfused EP runs the gambit through inner thoughts, struggles, and triumph, and it's all got this great sort of emotional drive and its undertone but it's still put out there in the form of heavy-handed punk rock with metal undertones, especially with some of the guitar riffs and it's all delivered with massive and electric energy that lets the entire record just come through unstoppable.
If the thing about this record is that it does indeed blend several subgenres of not only punk but metal, alternative rock, and a little bit more as well and you can hear these different influences with each song and so you get this super well-rounded but hard-hitting release that holds to a certain kind of authenticity that makes it genuine.
I definitely love the guitar work in the drumming on this record because those are the two biggest things that give them such a massive and driving sound and the vocals follow suit with such a perfect balance because in punk rock and in metal it is very important to have vocals that match the energy level of the band and this is a perfect example of exactly that.
Everything is forward-moving, and some of these songs even feel like they were recorded live on the floor, and everyone involved was feeding off of each other's energies the entire time and that's why these songs come through so powerfully.
This release was like a sucker punch to the gut because there are certain parts and songs that you just didn't expect to happen and I love a record that delivers some surprises around the corners, and heart, which this record has.
This is important because people that don't listen to a lot of metal or a lot of punk rock for that matter do not understand the kind of heart that goes into the music of those genres if done correctly.
This record has personality and heart and that shows not only lyrically but in the performance of the record itself from every instrument and every vocal.
The other thing people don't really understand when they listen to a record like this is that these guys could pull off almost any genre if they wanted to.
These kinds of songs are not easy to just pull off one two three. There is a lot of attention to detail in the arrangements of the songs and it never loses that hard or that power no matter what and this may be the most important aspect of the whole thing.
A lot of good punk and metal for that matter have a unique way of giving off honesty and the vocalist really does an amazing job of being honest and giving little pieces of himself into the songs.
I also adore the fact you can hear so many classic influences in this band that range from early 80s punk rock to current metal and punk.
This was a blitzkrieg of a record that has layers to it and so I would suggest listening to the EP from beginning to end because if you only listen to one or two tracks you're not getting the full range of what it has to offer.
Dive into this record and don't be afraid to turn it up.
