An Interview With Rane
A new single release from Rane brings out a fresh and breezy soundscape that comes along with a charming character and honest lyrics delivered with a soulful vocal performance and this beautiful atmosphere that has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to.
"A Higher Truth" has a lush and colorful vibe to it along with a groove that lends itself to jazz undertones and really makes you want to get up and dance almost straight away.
There's something about this track that feels very warm to me as well and it's very enjoyable as the brightness of the sounds coming through the speakers give off an almost welcoming feeling.
One of the things I really loved about this is the vocal performance because it's got a really soulful approach and it's not overdone, it's performed tastefully and really showcases the artist's presence very well.
You pretty much can't help but dance to this track because it's got this little bit of a funk rhythm to it and throughout the track you have these keys and synth pads that fill the space in the background which really makes the song feel a little more robust and it also gives the feeling of the song being able to grow and get bigger as it plays on.
I love this sort of approach to songwriting because it's almost cinematic in a way.
You can also tell that this track came from something real so it gives the lyrical content and the song itself an element of authenticity and I really like someone that can deliver that in a song but still have it feel good when you listen to it.
I mean, this track is definitely catchy and it's got a hook that sticks with you for hours after the song has ended which is a real rarity these days but it's really that character and persona that keeps you there.
It's really cool because after listening to the song you feel like you almost know him a little bit better and I really enjoy when artists give pieces of themselves when they release music.
Upon listening to this track I had no choice but to take a little bit of a deep dive into his back catalog on Spotify and I found that this is one of three recent tracks released this year and the other two are just as good but a little bit different.
Each one of these shows a little bit of a different side to his character and his songwriting as an artist and it's really fun to be able to put these together almost like an EP and listen to them in a row.
With the release of such a well woven single we wanted to have a sit-down with Rane to find out where this track actually did come from and what might be coming up next for the artist.
