The New Record From
Riconoflow is Endlessly Immersive
If you are looking for something that has fewer walls built around it than the norm, has no problem blending and bending genres at free will, and still gives a bit of an awe-inspiring level of pop sensibility, then I have just the thing for you.
The new record from Riconoflow seamlessly blends reggaeton, pop, R&B, electronic, house, trap, hip-hop, and dream all in one, and I'm not even including some of the other approaches that you hear across the span of this release.
This is a record that is built for people who want something completely refreshing but still has levels of warmth that keep you coming back for more.
It's an album that speaks volumes for an artist that wants to branch out and give you something eclectic but still somehow keeps everything consistent, confluent, and together.
Yes, the Disruptive Beauty album is packed with all different kinds of tones and textures that sort of flow into each other and create huge atmospheres that you get sucked into. The trick is, it feels good to get sucked into it all.
Once you're in this atmosphere, you don't want to leave.
It all starts with the first track, "1 on 1", which serves as an almost perfect example of what you're going to hear for the rest of the record; therefore, it's an amazing introduction to the entire thing.
The energy level is really well balanced but still up there. You have fun listening to it. It has spirit and soul, heart, and loads of danceability.
Right off the bat, you get a knack for how the production is going to work. There's almost always all kinds of amazing synths and keys that really help build those atmospheres out.
You also have these deep-pocketed rhythms and grooves that sort of give the songs an additional level of energy, along with experimental vocals and outside-the-box production, all coming together to produce something that is completely revitalizing.
"luv luv luv", one of my favorite tracks on the record, blends a lot of the electronic and hip-hop together, but adds this cinematic spaciousness in its underbelly that gives it loads of depth.
A lot of aspects about this record are about layers. The production element is meant to swallow you up. As I mentioned earlier, once you're in this particular kind of atmosphere, there's no escape. You don't want to leave it, but if you wanted to, it's really difficult.
The reason for this is because there's a lot of sound sculpting going on.
The whole record is almost like an escape and pulls you away from whatever you're doing to put you in a different headspace for a chunk of time.
The way he reshapes elements of hip-hop, electronic, house, and pop is really intense at times.
"essential", one of the more experimental and avant-garde-style tracks on the record, is one that really grabs you. You start paying a lot of attention to the lyrics on tracks like this because he makes them abundantly clear. Meanwhile, the span of the track is sort of engulfed in different effects, making it more experimental, but still drawing you even further into the aesthetic he has built throughout the record.
"dreamin" is a track that gives you a bit more of that straight-up house-style element with a classic beat and loads of drive, but still keeping that vastness in the undertone at all times.
The thing with this record is that you're always swimming through the soundscapes that are delivered.
There are a lot of those layers of ambient tonalities that help the record have a natural flow to it, but it all comes through with this level of character that you end up really liking.
A lot of the songs come from genuine places, and I feel like this is a record that isn't really just breaking boundaries down in terms of genre crossing, but also having a freeing approach.
He's not tying himself to certain kinds of styles or sounds, but rather taking elements of those different genres, reinventing them, and inputting them back into the music.
This is exactly what I mean when I say things like sound sculpting.
He's not just putting synthesizers in there and letting them flow. He's taking those synths and affecting them, morphing them, and reshaping them to fit what he wants.
I would definitely suggest listening to this full record from start to finish in one shot, because it's just the best experience that way.
I usually mention listening with headphones for records like these, simply because of those different layers of ambience and texture that come through on the record, along with the hip-hop elements shining through a lot of the time.
Being able to listen with headphones on lets you get more immersed into a record like this, which is the entire point.
The point is to be immersed in this release.
So, go get started. I'm sure this is going to affect you, and it'll be a pretty awesome experience.
