Rocky Michaels Releases An Anthem to the Nine to Fivers

10434-unnamed-1-1752706108297.jpg

New single from Rocky Michaels delivers an All-American sentiment that many of us relate to on such a regular basis, and I feel like it's something that brings a little spirit to the nine-to-five work week and those who can't wait for that final day of the week to arrive.

"Hey Now Friday" is an Anthem to the day itself. A call out for that beautiful day, where we know the weekend is ahead of us.

Now, for a lot of us, that means a little bit of rest and relaxation. Even if it doesn't, it means no work today or for the next few days, which is something so refreshing and relieving, and I'm glad someone finally wrote a song that represents this important aspect of our lives.

Rocky Michaels is the kind of artist who delves into all different kinds of things, whether it be more serious or lighthearted. This is obviously a more light-hearted touch and approach, but it still comes through as authentic because the artist lets loose on his music.

Rocky isn't the kind of artist who's afraid to speak his mind and this is a track that does so, although again, in a light-hearted fashion.

I love this because it is indeed All-American. It is for everybody, and that speaks volumes for the artist simply because we all feel this. He knows we do, and it's about time someone dropped a track that praises that final day of the week.

He also goes through the weekend and pretty accurately portrays Saturdays and Sundays in terms of how most people will spend them.

Sunday is a very relaxing day for a lot of us. We do know we have to go back to work on Monday, but it still is a freedom that we have now so we enjoy it.

This is a track that Rocky comes through with a more vivacious and vibrant energy, which is completely addicting and does so with his sort of classic folk rock approach, which is warm tonally and still with this beautiful energy that's captured.

If you're not really familiar with Rocky's music, then I would take a bit of a dive into his stuff. This is a track that represents him a little differently than some of his other tunes, but it also is a great break from the more serious side of things, so that we can focus on the simple joys of Life.

Being able to spend some more time with our families or friends. Being able to focus on our hobbies or passions. Maybe Rocky himself wrote the song on a series of Fridays.

Knowing Rocky, he probably wrote it on one Friday. Either way, this is a song that does actually represent him pretty well, although it's a little off the beaten path from his normal stuff.

This is because he's still singing about something that matters to him. It's something that matters to a lot of us. It may be in a simplistic fashion because it's just a day of the week and everyone looks forward to Fridays, but well... everyone looks forward to Fridays.

As I mentioned before, it's an Anthem to all of us. The weekend is a refresher, and Friday night is the start of that.

In true Rocky Michaels fashion, there's amazing instrumentation, including what sounds like either 12 12-string or mandolin. I think it's mandolin, judging by its tone, but it does add such a great rootsy folk appeal to the track.

The song also has a bright pop coating to it. It is, after all, a spirited and enjoyable track that is a celebration, and that sentiment and energy come through heavy-handedly throughout the single.

As I mentioned earlier, this is a great track to sort of introduce you to Rocky's stuff, and I would suggest listening to some of his other material and watching some of his other videos.

Rocky Michaels is someone who puts together some amazing visuals, and sometimes they're more stripped down, and others it's a little more robust, but either way, you're getting a video that lets you pay attention to the lyrics and also showcases Rocky's presence as an artist for whatever song that may be.

This one, like I said, is more vibrant, up swing, fun, freeing, and celebratory, so you have Rocky himself sort of jamming out on the guitar and singing his heart out on the video, which lines up great with the song's colorful feel.

Definitely check this out, but then check out some other releases from Rocky because he's got a lot to listen to, and again, they're all different. Some are very passionate about more serious subjects that affect him on some kind of emotional level, so he has to write songs and sing about them.

Others, like this one, are for literally everybody and come through with a folk rock and borderline Americana approach that feels good to listen to.

Friday is coming up, so maybe have a listen to it now so you can get ready for it.

In case you're in the middle of your work week like the rest of us and need a little pick-me-up, this song will remind you of what's to come. That little light at the end of the tunnel means a lot to us.

Thanks to Rocky for reminding us of that.
