A new single release from Sam Plourd gives off a very particular breed of honesty, but does so in this semi-edgy pop soundscape with a unique approach lyrically that not only delivers incredible lyrical phrasing but also a ton of personality.

"Prove It!" is the track that is about desire. It's about being infatuated with somebody and imagining all these things in your head. It's a track about seeing somebody and wanting to know them more, thinking that if they would just wrap their arms around you one time, everything would be better. Almost like they could solve all your problems just by paying attention to you or loving you.

Sam's ability to let her inner thoughts come spilling out for everyone to soak up is absolutely incredible because the song is actually quite vulnerable if you think about it.

She's singing about things that are very personal and those feelings and inner thoughts, although slightly humorous, are genuine.

She does take that humorous approach at times. She talks about how her friends think she's crazy or diluted, or how she doesn't mean to sound creepy, but how one night and that person's arms would just fix everything.

I love that honesty. It's so refreshing and robust. It adds this energy to the track that's so unique, and again, gives it so much character and personality that you connect with it.

This is a super relatable track for almost everyone, honestly.

We've all been there, and Sam lets loose lyrically in a way that she paints the picture so well that you could have used this song as the soundtrack to part of a chapter in your own life.

That's how much sense this truck makes, the way she puts it.

This is a pop single and has an amazing growth to it. It starts slightly more stripped down but with a heavy-handed beat and vocals. There are some light synths and keys at the beginning of the song, but those really grow into bigger, more colorful styles and approaches later on.

The chorus is an absolute banger and is completely addictive, and part of the reason for that is the way she phrases her lyrics.

When the song starts off, you have a light, ethereal synth pad and a smooth kind of beat that's not fully in the song just yet. It's a light version of the full Bbeat.

As that introduction unfolds, Sam comes in with the first verse, and the way that she squeezes all of these words into one breath is outstanding.

Not just the way she squeezes it into one breath, but more how she fits it into the song and the rhythm so uniquely.

She can say so much within one phrase or bar of the verse that it's astounding at times.

She does this so well throughout the entire track that you need to listen to it a few times to really pick up on everything.

I love songs like that because you can dig deeper into them, and when you listen the second or third times, you pick up on things that you missed the first time you listened.

It's incredibly fun, or at least it was for me.

This combination of a bright, electro, and indie-pop approach blending in with a mainstream or commercial pop style was borderline brilliant, and the whole thing has that refreshing personality to attach yourself to.

I can't stress enough how important that is. That is the element that wraps itself around you and keeps you right where it wants to.

She's got a great vocal approach in general because she comes up with but the whole thing does have that edginess in its undertone.

I found it pretty cool that it was a unique blend of being light-hearted, vulnerable, edgy, and still hints at this seriousness in the sentiment.

This was produced very well, and the whole thing speaks volumes for Sam as an artist because she's able to create something unique in the way that she phrases her lyrics and reels you into the song, doing so.

An amazing track that you should certainly hear right now, take a listen to "Prove It!".
