An Interview With Sarah Krimson

A new single from Sarah Krimson once again takes us into a pop fantasy as sounds turn to colors and swirl into a catchy chorus performed with heartfelt passion and an almost angelic innocence.
"With You" is like looking back on memories flashing through your head and feeling the emotion each one had attached to it.
Krimson takes a 90's alt beat, lush string sections, and piano to go along with her perfect vocals to make something that feels warm.
The song pulls at your heartstrings and proves the artist has plenty of tricks up her sleeves.
You will get pulled into the song within seconds flat and you won't want to leave.
The single is built from an emotional platform which is part of her approach as a songwriter and it works incredibly well as the artist is able to take those emotions and weave them into song.
"With You" follows another single called "Ocean Waves" which we had the total pleasure of reviewing a little while back and you can read that review HERE.
"With You" is a step in the right direction for Krimson as she really gets you singing that chorus along with her by the end of the track.
With such a wonderfully recorded pop ballad, we wanted to have a chat with Sarah to find out where this all comes from.
TSWS: Okay so let's start with "With You". This song is a very swelling and cinematic ballad and beautifully done. Where did this track come from?
Sarah: Honestly, music-wise I experimented a lot with this track.
TSWS: I'm hearing some different styles undertone with some of your releases. Who are your biggest musical influences?
Sarah: One of my biggest influences is Lana Del Rey, I love that melancholic vibe of hers. But, when I usually hit the studio, I already have the whole song written, the mood is set. So, I work with the producer focusing on creating the best sound that can convey what I want to say through the track. It’s all about what I want to communicate to the people, I want people to feel what I was feeling when writing the song. And I think I managed to do that with “With You”
TSWS: How did this all start for you?
Sarah: Music has always been my dream job, I’ve been singing since I was 6 years old and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else but that, I don’t think I’m ever gonna stop!
TSWS: How do you write your songs? Is it lyrics first or guitar chords? How does it work for you?
Sarah: Most of the time arrangement comes first for me, I usually record the guitar on my phone and then find the melody for the lyrics. I rarely do the opposite, but it happens sometimes.
TSWS: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?
Sarah: Thinking about how to do marketing! Music’s always on my mind.
TSWS: Who are you listening to right now?
Sarah: Ashnikko and Rosalia
TSWS: What's next for you as an artist?
Sarah: I can’t wait to get back in the studio, release new music and reach as many people as possible.
TSWS: Do you think you will be putting any focus on live performances when the time comes?
Sarah: Definitely yes! I haven’t performed much in the past, I have stage fright. I know it’s counter-productive, so I’m working on how to overcome that.
TSWS: What kind of advice might you have for other up and coming artists trying to get heard?
Sarah: Do not underestimate marketing, your song might be the next big hit, but with little to no marketing there’s a high chance it won’t get heard. It might seem hard at first, but I promise you’ll get the hang of it!
TSWS: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?
Sarah: Thank you so much for supporting me and for listening, it means a lot!
