Catching Up With Serene
We just got a chance to catch up with Serene about her new single "Lovely" and more!
TSWS: You are gearing up to release a new song! Tell me about it!
My new single is called Lovely! I wrote this song about being stuck in the “talking phase” when being in a new relationship and wanting to throw a label on it.
TSWS: What was the creative process for it?
Venis, a new producer on the scene (@prodbyvenis), DMed me, asking if he could show me some of his beats. There was one in particular that I instantly fell in love with, so I asked if he was interested in working together on it. From there, he finished up the beat and I wrote the lyrics to what is now Lovely. I actually recorded all the vocals in my bedroom that were used for the final mix. We sent it over to Jeffrey Turner (@hefe.mixed.it) and that's it!
TSWS: It recently gained some traction on TikTok right? How has that been going?
The reaction from Tiktok has been wonderful! Even though it was initially posted due to a miscommunication, I'm super grateful that it happened! I was shocked to see so many people asking me to drop the song and that really pushed me to get the song out as fast as possible.
TSWS: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Some of my influences include Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Billie Eilish, and Drake.
TSWS: If you could collab with any artist, past or present, who would it be?
Rihanna! She's such a fun, determined, and intelligent person to be around. I would love to work with her to see her process.
TSWS: What do you hope sets your music apart?
I feel like my voice is pretty unique to what is mainstream for female singers at the moment. I hope that people fall in love with my deeper, warmer voice.
