Silk Ramp Up for an Upcoming Album With "Auralux" Single

Silk returns with a massive new single that puts the nail in the coffin in terms of them being a band that hits this beautifully heavy-handed, elegant, but edgy shoegaze soundscape with bright riffs and a sonic grunge that feels intense and almost like waves of sound crashing down everywhere.

"Auralux" is the perfect example of a track that showcases how the band is able to never really leave their pop sensibility behind when creating a song.

These guys are the very definition of shoegaze, bringing those massive guitar tones, but they also manage to lace in catchy sort of riffs and these warm melodic vocal sections that sort of pull you into the song even further.

One of my favorite things about this track and maybe even this band is their drummer.

The drummer of this band knows how to bring this sort of tightness to a sound that feels loose by definition. The whole thing about you guys is that it has a spacious atmosphere to it, and when you have guitar tones that bring this huge fuzz, edgy distortion, and again, grunge-oriented tone, the sound of everything becomes almost overwhelming.

The drumming keeps things together. The drummer of this band is like the glue.

Now, nothing against everyone else, obviously. The guitar work here is outstanding, as I mentioned earlier, there are great hooks played throughout the track, and they definitely give off an immense sonic presence as they should.

The base tone is deepening but also fuzzy, so you have an overall distorted sound that sort of swallows you up.

The vocals certainly give that melodic approach and are dripping with that reverb effect so that they are distant. That's the name of the game here. Creating something that feels like it's got a lot of depth. This band always knows how to do exactly that.

They always put out songs with massive amounts of layers to them. It feels like they can go on forever. It feels like you're swimming through that sonic density, and I thoroughly enjoy swimming through this track.

The soundscape of this single surrounds you. It's everywhere, and you still hold on to those vocal melodies and guitar hooks throughout the entire thing.

What may be most lovable about their sound is their live performance vibe or aesthetic.

When you listen to this track, you sort of can't help but envision them performing it live. Or at least that's how it works for me.

You hear the song, and you can feel like everyone is there in the room just doing it. They have a unique way of putting you in the moment with the music.

This is great because it allows you to get swallowed up. It lets you get engulfed in everything. There's so much of that wonderful tone that it's fun to get soaked up in it.

These guys also pay a lot of attention to the mix of their tracks, making sure that the depth is always there. That vastness is a huge part of the sound and what makes you feel like you're swimming through it all, so the final mix of their songs is always an imperative aspect to how it will sound in the end.

They know that distance. They nail that depth, and they let you drift with all of it.

Again, it is heavy. And I love how they bring in these elements of 90s alternative and heavy rock music at certain points as well.

By the end of the track, the drums are absolutely huge, bashing crash symbols, slamming snares, and thumping kicks, all accompanied by that wall of sound the rest of the instruments are creating. Everything is at its highest intensity, and when it's over, you have to snap back to reality.

That is something special.

If you don't listen to this loud, then do it with headphones on. Only then can you really soak in all of the textures, tones, layers, and sounds that this song gives off. It creates an ocean of graceful heaviness, and you don't want to miss that.

As far as we can tell, this is a single that should be leading up to the band's new album, releasing this summer.

So, definitely keep a lookout for that, but for now, this track should certainly keep you at bay.

Don't miss this one.
