Siri Neel Releases A Wonderful Album
If you are not too familiar with the sounds of Siri Neel, then let us be among the first to introduce you as the artist just dropped a beautiful record that expresses a lot of thought and emotion as it unfolds and while that all happens you begin to get a feel for her personality and her influences musically as well.
The Drawn Like a Magnet album is quite robust in its songwriting and instrumentation as it brings together what I would say is a sort of 90s pop tonality with a current Indie pop and dreamy flow, while embracing this sort of honest approach and it combines elements of that sort of colorful pop tonality with that vaster and more expansive sound so you get a lot of layers that you can peel back throughout the course of the record.
I find this to be incredibly alluring because with each track it feels like you have what I would call a chapter in Siri's life and it feels like you're reading a book in a way with each song being a chapter in the book.
There's a little piece of herself that's given with each of these songs and she really doesn't hold anything back which I find to be quite beautiful because it lets the songs come through in a very connective manner as they are not hidden behind walls.
These songs are very out in the open lyrically and that takes a bit of bravery.
This is a sort of contemporary pop style album if you will and there's a lot of great key and synth sounds and textures that are used throughout the record along with those classic almost '90s style beats as I mentioned before, and that crossover of old school and new school really work wonders here.
You get elements of R&B at times, beautifully passionate local performances, and it's almost ethereal tone so it's got such a unique blend of sounds that end up really creating a sort of atmosphere but it's also not enough to just listen to one or two tracks.
Listening to one or two songs from this album may give you a little gist of what's to come but it doesn't give you the full spectrum of what the album has to offer as a whole.
This is important because the album offers a lot of perspective that comes from a personal place, so she is giving a lot on this record and I feel like listening to the whole album lets you drink that all in properly.
Certain songs come through feeling a little bit more stripped down while others feel lusher and bigger while still keeping that dreamy element in place.
This was a fun listen and it was something that serves as a bit of an escape because it does pull you away from wherever you are and whatever you're doing and kind of puts you in her world for a little chunk of time.
This is part of the connectivity of the record. You end up feeling like a lot of the songs are very relatable and that starts creating visuals for you and I think that that is something you don't get often so when it comes around, it's well worth a listen. This is because it affects you in a certain way.
This was an absolutely wonderfully woven album that certainly took a lot of strength to put together and I think that Siri not only got a lot off of her chest but was able to express those things in an articulate manner so that others can really receive them the way they were meant to.
Check out the record as soon as you can and see how it does actually affect you because believe me, it certainly will.
