An Addicting And Unique New Single from Sugs
If you haven't heard of Sugs, then I have the perfect song to introduce him with. A new single release called "I Ain't Lyin'" dropped recently, and it is the absolute epitome of cross-genre approaches to alternative hip-hop, bound with character and really just hitting hard with an amazing Sonic presence and drive that comes through completely unique and makes the song very memorable in terms of sound sculpting and rhythm.
The single doesn't waste any time at all, coming right in with rap flows that bring an intelligence with them. The way the wrapping is phrased and placed is all brilliant, sitting perfectly between the beats but still giving off this vibrant energy and aesthetic.
One of the things that makes this song so special is that it blends that alternative edginess into the mix along with the hip-hop and pop overtones. The beat isn't necessarily classic hip-hop at all. It's more pop-oriented, and the way that they blend in certain kinds of synths and keys lends a hand to certain elements of electronic music as well.
So, the opportunity to take numerous genres and mesh them into one single was totally taken, but don't get me wrong, the entire thing has a pop coating that really serves it well.
It's got an undeniable energy that's completely infectious, that kicks in right from the start.
-The single also manages to bring up this almost classic '90s dance-pop feel. You get a C+C Music Factory kind of vibe, and I love this because I grew up listening to that kind of stuff. He's able to blend that into the production of it really well, too.
The single was produced by hrcnszn, who certainly laid the foundation to see the very least, and was heavy-handed bringing some of those classic influences to the plate during the creation of the track itself.
Sugs follows suit and really went for the aesthetic by bringing that genre into more of a hip-hop field, bringing out raps that feel slightly personal, and attach themselves to you quickly, while still keeping everything upbeat.
I definitely dig the entire approach of this one, simply because not only does it cross genres over easily, but it also brings different decades of pop music to the plate. That's something you don't see every day, and the whole thing has that vivacious aesthetic and energy that draws you in.
So, it's a combination of something you feel like you're familiar with, but also fresh at the same time.
While Sugs brings that energy and flow, you have these kinds of sound effects that come into play, and use this percussion at times, while there are slight synth pads, almost used like strings floating about in the song's ether.
All this stuff gives it depth. The whole thing brings out that glorious combination of color, flavor, and depth, so that you kind of get addicted to the vocals, but you also want to get up and dance.
This is part of what I feel is the future of music in general. Being able to cross genres to create something completely new. It's almost impossible to put your finger on exactly what you would name this in terms of genre.
This is something I absolutely love. I think genre labeling is completely overrated, and this is just fresh music in general.
What's up, dive into this one right now, and don't be afraid to turn it up because it's most fun that way.
