The Far Field Release A Bright And Vast New Single

11068-img4156jpg-17600421531914.jpg

A new single release from The Far Field just dropped today, and the track absolutely showcases some monumental songwriting as a band, simply because everyone involved in this track puts in certain tones that melt together and create a bit of a robust atmosphere that pulls you in and swallows you up, but still feels really good and almost uplifting in a strange sense.

A lot of this comes from the brightness of the song itself. Not just the tones, but the notes that are played and performed vocally. The vocals are thriving with a sort of beautiful energy, and the melodies performed are hooky and very positive while she allows her performance to sort of float in a smooth sense.

The vocal approach is really elegant here. It's got this graceful feeling too, which comes across angelic, and the way she sings feels almost like the vocals are instruments themselves, adding this new layer of texture to the song, and it works amazingly.

This track is vast, and its underbelly and that's where the whole atmospheric sensation comes from. The aesthetic is sort of crisp and has its polish or sheen to it that lets the instruments and the vocals come across sort of gleaming.

I definitely dig this because there is an element to this song that comes across as very fantastical.

Having said that, the song actually rocks out quite well. It is an indie rock song but brings in elements of progressive and dream rock as well, with that fresh pop overcoat keeping things under the umbrella of the genre.

This also works super well because they're able to bring in elements of that spaciousness and ambience, some edginess, progressive guitar work, and dreamy vocals, but still keep things pop-oriented and refreshing.

The track is called" Lake of the Woods", and the song is like a beckoning. It expresses a lot of emotion throughout its course, and some of it feels a little silent or sad, but there's also this bright light at the end of the tunnel.

It has something to do with escapism. Just the want to leave the place that you're at because it's making you feel alone, destitute, maybe leaving you with certain kinds of anxiety or frustration, and the desire to get out of that place is something that can feel overpowering. So leaving that place is part of the song's sentiment.

You can also hear that there are elements of heartbreak because of leaving that place. It's like it's a place she loves but knows she needs to get out of.

This is something a lot of people can connect with because of how open she is with her lyrics. She's kind of descriptive in terms of expressing and using words for emotions.

The singer's name is Nicola Tee, and it seems she is very good at articulating emotion and sensation into words and lyrics. She has a very particular way of delivering her lyrics, but because of the semi-descriptive approach, you can kind of paint that picture.

Now, again, this is heavily emotional, and she expresses a lot of that lyrically, but the song does have that brighter feel, so you know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It's a choice that needs to be made, but feels like it's the proper one.

It's not necessarily a grass is always greener on the other side type thing, but more a renewal.

Now, this is just how I took the song. Others can and probably will interpret this completely differently.

For me, the message was there, and that's how I took it in, so this all came together, making perfect sense in my ears.

The time signatures and guitar work are all beautiful here. They're particular and a little bit unique, but come through like I said before, I did progressive but very honed in.

The tone of the guitars is really what does it. The way the tones of those guitars have a slight edginess but still that floatiness, complementing the vocal approach, is brilliant.

You can hear elements of folk rock along with the indie rock and progressive approaches, keeping things not super overdriven, but just enough so that it's a rock song.

For me, this had a lot of layers of depth to it, and that's something I ended up holding on to and taking with me after the song was over.

Everyone in the band puts in their unique effort so that they create that atmosphere together, and I feel like the song wouldn't come across the same if it were just vocals on an acoustic guitar, for example.

The band really creates this gorgeous aesthetic, and that is, in part, why the lyrics have so much impact at times.

The whole thing was beautifully done, and I found myself getting engulfed by how the whole thing was put together.

Take a listen to this track and soak it all in. Plenty is going on, and I feel like if you give all your attention to it, you'll come out with a certain understanding of what the song is about.
