Todd Adelman Delivers An Inviting New Single

A welcoming new single from Todd Adelman delivers a great sentiment that feels like it revolves around some kind of falling out between friends. The song is about giving all of that up so that you can be friends once again.

It's a warm track about reconciling and getting back to what's important.

One of the things I really dig about the track is how the whole thing is portrayed lyrically. The song is called "This Rounds On Me", and it invites someone to come back to the bar, forget any differences, and have a cold one.

This is a really cool way to express the sentiment of the track, simply because it's so straightforward. I can relate to this one. If I had a falling out with my best friend invite him back in.

The track has a sort of folk rock feel, but it does incorporate some great Southern-toned instrumentation like violins, harmonica, and more. The track borders on country or Americana, while holding to that singer-songwriter and folk aesthetic pretty strongly.

Because of the harmonica and guitar work, violins, and everything else involved, this song comes through very Lush. Loads of great layers help the sentiment get pushed through and add a little bit of emotion and depth to the song as well.

Now, it's not overly emotional, but the lyrics dive a little deeper into the strength of the friendship and what he would do for the other. I really like this aspect as well, because I can connect with it.

Strangely, this song is almost like an anthem for friends that have had a falling out of some kind and are over it. Forget the past, come have a drink, and let's be friends.

I think this is important because life's too short to hold on to grudges. A lot of us realize this by now, but sometimes it's easier said than done.

The way that he articulates his lyrics across this track gets warmer and warmer and strengthens the passion behind the message more and more.

Some organs fill any empty space and thicken things up even more, somehow creating even deeper warmth for the song, and the vocals have a perfect energy to them.

Everything about this track has that mid-range energy. It's not over the top, but it's not subtle or delicate either. Everything is balanced perfectly so that the message of the song comes through, and the emotion is there too but doesn't take over.

That's part of why the song hits the way it does as well.

You're not going to go begging your friend to come back. You're going to just invite him out for a drink, and that'll be the end of it.

The song kind of has the same almost lighthearted approach to it, and it's part of what lets you relate to it on that balanced level as well.

The guitar work is outstanding throughout this entire track. It does indeed have a great twang to it, pushing that country aspect a little further, and the whole thing just feels like something you can sing along to.

It is actually like a drinking song that you would hear at a bar with a bunch of people singing right along. A song that belongs in the Jukebox for that right moment of the night.

This is a single that follows quite an impressive album released in 2023 called Western Soul, which is absolutely outstanding.

If you like this track, then I strongly suggest you go check out that album because there's a lot more going on that you don't want to miss.

Todd Adelman is the kind of artist that you hear a track from, and then want to go dive through their back catalog. That's exactly what I did, and I'm glad that I did it.

I think you will be too. So, take a deep dive into the music of Todd Adelman, but maybe start by grabbing yourself a cold one and playing "This Rounds On Me".
