Todd Barrow "Rockin in the City"

A classic single release from Todd Barrow comes through with a heartland rock feel that track feels like an ode to not only classic rock bands that may have inspired him but also to some southern rock as well because you can hear that in the song through its overall tone but it sticks more to that classic rock color and vibe.
There's so much perfected tone and aesthetic to "Rockin in the City" that it feels like a song that you've been listening to on rock radio stations for years or even decades now.
I love how well done and authentic this track feels in terms of how the guitar tones are and how the vocals are done, and the entire thing just feels like an actual track that was recorded years ago and has already been part of your life.
This is done because Todd puts together not only the right aesthetic tone-wise, but in terms of the guitar performance and riffs, and especially those choruses that come along because those have that vintage and genuine classic rock approach through and through.
That chorus sticks with you and becomes something that you remember throughout the day so you find yourself humming it in your head and sometimes even out loud.
This, of course, is another attribute to great rock songs that have been around for years. Stick so well you have to try and shake it off.
It also has that sort of fists in the air singalong feel to it which is super fun and you can hear the Americana or country influence in that guitar tone as well at times. But, this is part of what makes it heartland rock.
The guitars aren't drenched in anything crazy. There's not a lot of distortion or a lot of overdrive for that matter. They're a little bit on the cleaner side but the song has this classic rock tonality that makes everything feel a little edgier. A little more anthemic.
I feel like the guitar work on this track is a prime factor because that's where a lot of the heart lies aside from the vocals of course. The guitar work is soulful and has a liveliness to it that makes it feel authentic.
I definitely enjoy a song that has instrument performances that feel as heartfelt as vocals can.
That kind of thing says a lot for the performer. Todd was probably a guitar player before anything else.
He grew up listening to all different kinds of music but country music took the forefront and the Texas-based artist has already been making a name for himself for years now which you could probably guess if you listen to this song alone.
Todd actively performs and writes on what seems to be a non-stop basis and we're happy about that because the releases he puts out there are outstanding.
Todd Barrow may be a great country artist but I can also hear a lot of that classic rock influence so I know he grew up on some of that too.
A wonderful songwriter with the ability to crank out tracks that have persona, soul, heart, and charisma.
Check out "Rockin in the City" and see if you find yourself singing along by the end of the track.
Remember where you heard it first.
