A Massive new Single from TRYSTE
A gorgeous new single release from TRYSTE delivers a very vast and spacious soundscape as they seamlessly take some of the best elements of shoegaze, heavy rock, dream rock, and post-punk among some others and sort of take all of that stuff and put it together but they do it in a way that gives the song a sort of slow burn so that you get pulled into the smooth and airy atmosphere of it all before it hits the heavier sections where things get climactic and intense.
The song is called 'Vessel", and this track is as spacious as it is because it is dripping with a reverb effect on pretty much everything. This makes it feel super expansive and widened as the track gives off that deepening and distanced feel, in turn giving it a lot of that cinematic tonality as well.
It feels like they took the whole master of the track and added reverb over everything, and I love this because it makes for a great wetness and something that sort of lets you float into that atmosphere very easily and quickly.
The guitar work is clean and elegant, and the vocals follow suit with these sorts of graceful and beautiful melodies and that dreamy approach. The vocals also have a lot of reverb effect on them, so they float on the same level as the guitars do.
Another aspect of the cinematic backbone this song delivers has a lot to do with the percussion. The percussion is also a huge part of that slow burn. So you know it's sort of building up to something after a bit.
The vocals get a little bit more intense but still stay to that smooth and melodic approach even when they're belting a little bit louder.
The whole thing has an amazing build- up, and that build-up is beautifully melodic.
The vocals start showing such incredible range, using head voice to these amazingly high notes, delivering new melodies to the song, which really feels emotionally bound in a strong sense.
Soon enough, the drums start delivering more of a steady pace and beat, and then finally the song explodes into more of a heavy shoegaze feel with distorted guitars and the drumming becoming something that hits a lot harder and with a heavier hand in terms of the beat itself.
When everything kicks in full, the actual drum time signature is amazing. It's never open. There's never a space. There are always drums getting hit. It sounds like it's either a lot of double kicks going on, or it's a mixture of that toms and snare.
Either way, it really helps drive this section through the roof.
Now, while all this is happening, you still have that very melodic backbone and very airy and vast underbelly sticking strong.
The riffs change a bit more, which was an incredible part, and the vocals go back to more of a chest voice sort of belting, and they become the most intense they are throughout the entire track.
So, not only is this incredibly cinematic, but it's also powerful. It has a heavy impact on it that, again, showcases that emotional push that sort of gets you attached in the first place.
I've heard of shoegaze in my time, but this was a great way to really pull you into that atmosphere and let it build slowly until finally bursting into that intense and heavy ending.
I certainly loved how they put this together and that they weren't afraid to really just drench this in the reverb effect so that it had that depth to it.
This was gorgeous. Honestly, I listened to this with headphones, and it sucked me right in. When it reached the heavier section, it was incredible.
These guys really know how to build a massive climactic and sonically driving point.
But don't just read this; listen to the song. It's definitely the smart thing to do, especially if you love post-punk, heavy rock, shoegaze, songs that are smart and arranged with a cinematic backbone and approach.
Dive into this because you don't want to miss it.
