A Vivacious Pop-Rock Single from Wake Up Paradise
A fresh single from Wake Up Paradise delivers a memorable soundscape that blends elements of dance and pop-rock together to create something that's got an addictive atmosphere that comes through colorfully but is edgy all at the same time.
"Never Too Late" has a great groove to it. I love a song that rocks out and has this sort of heavy, almost power-rock backbone as this one does, but also gives you deep-pocketed grooves.
It makes it all the more fun, and believe me, this is a very danceable single.
The guitar work is outstanding throughout this entire thing, giving it hints of that edginess, but still keeping things bright. The energy of the band feels almost live. It's a very vivacious track from start to finish, and it seems almost as if they recorded a bulk of this live, all at once.
Of course, I wasn't there for the recording of it, so I can't be sure, but it's that synergy that you can sort of feel and hear between the musicians.
Everyone involved feels like they were feeding off of each other, and that's why you get this almost live-performance-style energy and aesthetic.
I definitely dig that, and it's the energy that really draws you in, but it's also a song that's got character.
The bass guitar is awesome because it's got a great low end to it, but it brings a little bit more flavor, and the drumming certainly brings that drive to the table as well, but it doesn't just sit in the pocket. Again, it does give you loads of groove, because it's part of what this song is all about. It's a dance rock single, in my opinion.
The drummer and a bit of liveliness to everything, and it does feel like some of the rest of the band pushes off of that.
There is this vastness in the song's undertone that gives a lot of depth, and it's got loads of layers of texture and tone coming through.
Part of that has to do with the vocals. The singer brings a lot of the personality out, and his performance is robust, to say the least.
He's got soul, and you can hear on the track itself that he loves what he's doing.
He's having a blast, and this adds to that overall energy I mentioned earlier.
Everyone in this band seems to complement each other wonderfully on this track.
All the elements fall together like puzzle pieces; there's a damn near perfect dynamic balance, but it's alive and breathing.
This is the song about no matter what you want, it's not too late. Some may interpret this more as a love song where someone wants the other person and is saying that it's never too late to go for that, while others may interpret it as more of a generality.
That's how I took it. Go for what you want. A lot of people run into that element in life. They come to a chapter where they figure they're too old, or it's too far into the situation to change things, but it's never too late.
It all depends on your point of view and your perspective.
Again, everyone who listens to the song is going to interpret it just a little bit differently, mainly because of where they are in their lives.
That's part of the beauty of songs like this, though.
Now, I have to bring this up because it's one of my favorite aspects of the track, and it's something that I've missed quite a bit in all kinds of rock music.
The single boasts a killer guitar solo. The lead guitar work is super smooth and has loads of soul as well. It's bursting with that colorful vibrancy, and it's technically brilliant. It's not over the top; it's melodically based, but it's got a lot of cool parts to it.
I loved that they put that in there.
Meanwhile, the drummer isn't afraid to get heavy either. He does some great double kick rolls and really adds in a sort of closed-fisted punch that the song wouldn't have had otherwise.
I think this is also why I mentioned its edginess earlier. I think a lot of the edge comes from, yes, some of the guitars when they get a bit heavier, but the drummer is just bringing that bit of alternative underbelly.
It's exactly what the song needs.
This is an anthemic track. The choruses are absolutely massive, the track is sonically driving, and you end up humming a lot of these hooks in your head for hours or even days after the song has ended, and the only way to satiate that is to go and listen to it again.
You may chalk this up to smart songwriting, but I feel like this is just naturally how these guys write their stuff.
This is a great example of a band who knows how to bring different worlds together and do it seamlessly. It's catchy, it's got a huge pop overtone, but it hits hard at just the right points, and gives you big, powerful, anthemic hooks.
This is a track you listen to with the volume up. You'll probably be singing along with the chorus by the second or third time around.
