A Lush and Expansive Record from whitewolfsonicprincess
An album release from WhiteWolfSonicPrincess comes through with a completely engulfing soundscape that feels not only cinematic but almost lined with a gothic theme and underbelly and throughout all of the strings and percussion that fill up this beautiful record, you get these stories and you end up becoming attached to the characters and detail in the lyrical content as this whole thing unfolds.
The Love Without Fear album is lush with instrumentation from a lot of acoustic guitars and strings to this open-ended sort of vast percussion approach and this is important because the aesthetic of this record is supposed to feel expensive and fast indeed.
This gets accomplished over and over throughout the course of the album and the vocal approach on top of everything also adds this beautiful textural layer to the songs and as they deliver those stories, you get some bits of emotional backbone and everything feels so rich.
This is the kind of record that serves as an amazing escape because it pulls you away from wherever you are and whatever you're doing and puts you in this whole other world for a chunk of time which I feel like is a gift musically.
If you listen to the whole record from beginning to end, by the end of it you have to sort of snap yourself back into reality again.
The whole thing does feel almost like a play or a film, or even a good book with chapters that lets the stories unfold and the music to bring the emotional backbone to everything.
It is such a fun, experimental, charismatic, and very sort of, deepening record and has these amazing layers that you can peel back as you listen through.
What's just as fun as the rest is the fact that you also get folk rock, blues, singer-songwriter, and some other standard genres in there too so they break up the record so that you have some grooves to get down with along with these vast and theatrical pieces of music that pull you away.
There are parts of this record that have an incredible energy to them. The intensity levels seem to swell and sway, come and go, and this lets the songs feel alive and breathing because even though plenty of them have normal arrangements, they still have this avant-garde and slightly outside the box progression feel a bit more freeing.
This is the kind of record that is created with a lot of attention to detail which is something you can clearly hear when you listen to it but, it also is just rich with these characters and personalities throughout it and that is the thing that you end up getting attached to the most in my opinion.
The performances are outstanding vocally, and instrumentally and it feels like each element of the songs feed off the next. What I mean by that is, it's almost as if some of these songs were recorded live on the floor and everyone involved was feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.
This was such a fun and deepening, orchestral, theatrical, and intense work and if you listen to only one or two songs you will not get the full spectrum of what the album has to offer.
You may get a little gist or a sense of what you can expect, but you won't get the whole thing.
This is a record you should definitely be listening to all the way through and as big as it feels, it's about 45 minutes long or so.
This beckons someone's attention and if you do that, if you give it that attention, then you will have vivid pictures painted for you as you listen through and it's just been a long time since you get this kind of full experience by listening to now.
At least that's how it is for me.
This group brings together experimental and psychedelic rock elements into this theatrical and expansive world and I feel like that's a brilliant combination of energies, textures, and approaches.
Listen to this record with headphones on because it's one of the best ways to soak everything in. Believe me when I tell you that there are sounds and textures that float through the ethers of some of the tracks and you really want to be able to pick up on everything when you listen to it.
This record will have a way of swimming around in the air that's around you and you will enjoy every second of it.
