Zoë Vera Delivers An Honest And Genuine Single
A beautifully intense new single from Zoe Vera delivers a warm tonality but a very honest sentiment as she lets a lot out in terms of being vulnerable, and walking the line between putting yourself out there and not knowing if she's good enough to do so.
This, to me, is so connected and real. The way she puts it lyrically is so straightforward, and you feel for her. You completely understand and relate to exactly what she's talking about because she puts it together and articulates it in a way that humanizes her. We're all human, and we all have the question as to whether or not we ourselves are good enough for something or someone.
I think that's important. Just the fact that she's able to release a track that is so open is a brave thing, and it's beautifully done through and through.
This single has a very current pop overtone, but it also has a contemporary underbelly. The piano work is beautiful and expresses the same level of emotion as the vocals do, which is really impressive all in all, and you can hear this cinematic build behind it all.
She has a natural knack for building her songs. This track builds in such a unique manner. It grows a little bit more intense, following the lyrics closely, and when the percussion and drumming start kicking in, things become more vibrant and robust, while still hanging on to the uncertainty element of the lyrics.
Now, this song could be taken in several different ways. It could be for a person. The sheer contemplation of whether or not you're good enough for that one specific person you're with or want to be with is evident here, but it could also be a general relationship or just universally.
You want to go for something, whether it's a job, profession, relationship,, or situation, and the Wonder of whether or not you were good enough to go for it is something we've all dealt with.
Because of that, each person who listens to this is going to soak it in a little differently. They're going to put themselves in Zoe's shoes for a second, but they're also going to take it into their own life.
I think that's kind of the beauty of songs like this. That's the connective element.
It's songs like these that make us think and feel. This is the kind of music that has a strange way of letting us hold on to hope simply because of the fact that we know we're not alone in thoughts like this.
This is also why I said that the song is brave. It is quite a lot to put yourself out there and be so open lyrically.
As the song builds and builds, more orchestrated string sections come in, pushing that cinematic factor even further, and the song becomes very full-bodied.
This was gorgeous, and you can tell it came from a real place for the artist.
I love hearing completely authentic songs, like this one. It has that youthful undertone and still somehow beckons classic contemporary pop and a lot of different ways.
It's a song you can easily picture in the scene of a film or a TV show, and this is mostly because of its emotional backbone and sentiment, but it also has to do with the music itself and the songwriting. The way the song is portrayed has a certain kind of mood and aesthetic to it that fits a cinematic landscape super well.
I love that this song has a bit of drive to it, but really, it's the heart that makes it so addicting. It's got heart, personality, it's full of character, and it's that boisterous honesty that really paints a picture for you and gives you a little piece of who she is.
That is exactly what we need more of when it comes to pop music in general.
Again, this is not a banger. This is not a 'get up and dance around the room' type of song. This is a song that makes you feel something. It's an understanding and a contemplation of yourself.
The whole thing was beautifully done from start to finish and really left quite an impact.
As far as we know, this is a glimpse of an upcoming EP release from the artist, and I certainly can't wait to hear more from this record.
I have a feeling the whole thing is going to offer this massive amount of personality and just authenticity through and through.
Until then, this single will certainly keep me at bay, and it probably will for you too. Take a listen to this one with headphones on.
