Chris Sloan "Cover Me" Premiere

We are elated to bring to you guys Chris Sloan, our featured artist for today who just dropped a brand new single and not only does it come with a heartfelt performance, an impactful and expansive feel, but it also has quite an interesting backstory.
The song is a cover of a track originally recorded by the band Candlebox and is called "Cover Me".
Chris brings in a certain kind of soul to the track which originally did have its own soul as well but the way Chris does it is a little bit different and it still serves as a love letter to the original but with his own personality embedded in its veins.
This is moving and beautifully executed as Chris implements this raw energy and unique flair and finesse which takes the single to a bit of a different place and enables you to pay more attention to the lyrics of the song than the original one did.
This is a singer-songwriter and Americana-touched version of the track and it does it some amazing justice to the point where Chris was able to bring in original Candlebox guitarist Peter Klett to the project.
Klett ended up being a bigger part of the track than expected with some original guitar work and even by helping produce the song itself along with Chris.
"The Candlebox Cover in all honesty started several years ago, just by being connected on social media with Peter and other members of Candlebox because we have worked with the same people in the Seattle music scene. Several months ago I posted a video of me playing and singing live in my apartment, my own reimagined rendition of Cover Me by Candlebox in which Peter Klett watched and commented. That prompted me to actually write/record an actual home demo of my version complete with guitar, vocals, harmonies, etc. After I finished the demo, I sent it to Peter, not even knowing if he would listen to it.
he did and contacted me saying it was such a unique and interesting version, that he thought I should record it and release it. With that advice, I asked him if he would be willing to track lead guitar on it, and to my surprise he said yes. After tracking was done and we listened to several versions, Peter decided he wanted to mix, master and produce the track as well." - Chris Sloan
This song has potency to it and this is just the way that Chris Sloan gives pieces of himself through his music.
The amazing thing is, he's even able to give a piece of himself with a cover song like this which is something honestly we don't think we've even seen before.
Beautifully mixed and with just enough magnitude to leave a mark, Chris Sloan's cover of "Cover Me" is stimulating and provoking to say the least.
I remember the Candlebox version and I remember liking it as well, but hearing this version puts me in the song more and helped me understand what it's about.
After you listen to this completely striking single, have a listen to some more of Chris Sloan's recent releases as he does have plenty of original material all of a certain class and quality including an album released last year called Into The Shade.
The artist's next single is slated for June and we certainly hope it's more of what we're hearing on this track.
