A Lush Album Release From Danny Mortimer
A new album release from Danny Mortimer brings out a refreshing and bright combination of classic rock and pop-influenced songs that really show how the artist has the ability to write in diversified styles and approaches while keeping things incredibly genuine and honest on the upfront.
The album is dubbed Songs From The Cutting Room Floor and it gives you the idea that these were songs that didn't make it onto certain releases he had previously; however, there's so much warmth and personality across the span of this record that it works incredibly well as an album on its own.
I think one of the most impressive things about this record is the ability to adapt to different songwriting styles and have everything come through with such an impactful character.
Throughout the course of the album, you have some really great rock bangers but you also have these more contemporary pop-sounding tracks as well that feel like they could have been on the radio throughout the 90s.
You also have some acoustic ballads that really come through with a beautiful cinematic undertone and that's where so much of that honesty comes in which makes things so authentic that you can't turn away from it.
There's a lot about this record that makes you think about your own people and that causes memories of your own to pop into your head at random times because the songs are so relatable.
There's also that almost anthemic feel with some of these tracks that in combination with that sort of nostalgic classic rock feel, create the sense that these songs could have been part of the soundtrack from certain chapters of your own life.
Although this record was built on songs that were separated from previous releases, there are a lot of them that serve really well as singles and stand on their own two legs profoundly, but listening to this album as a whole also has an almost concept to it as if the songs are connected by time.
There are a lot of songs here that deliver hooks both fast and slow, that stick in your head for hours after the song has ended and it's really hard to satiate that without going back and listening to them again.
You can definitely tell that Danny is an artist who puts a lot into what he does and has a pure love for his craft because that sense oozes from every note on this record.
By the time you get halfway through this release, you get the feeling that there's going to be more surprises around the corners and that's kind of exciting because all these songs are really good but in different ways so you don't really know which to expect next.
This came out to be a very full-bodied and lush feeling album that makes perfect sense as a whole and is actually surprising that this could be made up of songs that didn't make the cut previously.
Outstanding guitar tones and such a powerful ability to shape a character to each individual song make this very unique and fulfilling album from start to finish.
Definitely check this one out when you get a chance.
