A Grogeous And Honest Ep Release From Lorelei Marcell
A new EP release from Lorelei Marcell brings out a refreshingly honest pop feel with R&B and soul embedded in its bones as her performances come through with passion and emotional drive most of the time along with future pop soundscapes but all done with a cinematic approach that builds and swells and gives the songs a living, breathing feeling.
The Stranger EP is loaded with lush textures that layer atop each other and have her vocal as the centerpiece and it works like a charm.
This EP feels like it has this unique sheen to it that sticks with you and it's this combination of polished production and brutal honesty that lets her bare plenty and that combination is part of what makes this so damn addicting.
It also has a summer undertone to it in a way which is crisp and freeing.
The songs have that single quality to them that makes you feel like you've been listening to these songs on the radio for a while now.
Its youthful straight forward approach gives this record such an infectious style that makes you find yourself excited for the next song even before the current one has ended.
These are almost like chapters in a book. Or chapters of her life maybe.
It all comes from real places and has a completely genuine feeling behind them.
Plus these songs are full bodied and gorgeous. You can relate to them all. You can see your own memories pop into your head. The songs become yours before they are hers again.
It's absolutely outstanding.
It's been such a long time since a release gave you that feeling. Like the songs are for you.
They are like being young, sitting on your rooftop staring at the stars at night. It's just emotional and real.
But it's graceful too.
The choruses are damn near perfect and you just get it the whole time. She connects. She makes this connection with these songs and it's all because of how she wears her heart on her sleeves this way.
An excellent record from top to bottom. There's literally no filler at all. It's just single after single here.
All gems.
Be ready to go "yeah!, I get that" and be ready to possibly cry as well.
A heartfelt summer pop powerhouse of an EP this is.
