A Gorgeous Release From Mallory Chipman

A new EP release from Mallory Chipman hits that beautiful sweet spot between Americana and contemporary acoustic singer-songwriter with an absolutely gorgeous vocal delivery throughout the course of the playthrough and just tons of character and heart as well.
The As Though I Had Wings EP feels genuine like the songs all came from a life experience that has to do with the building of who she is as a person and that in itself makes the record so tangible and real that it's almost impossible to look away from.
The songs all come through lush and full-bodied with an array of natural instrumentation and this sort of rustic undertone that gives everything and out-in-the-open feel in its own right.
This aspect in itself makes everything so addictive and enables you to almost vividly paint pictures in your own head based on what the songs are about and how the music delivers that soundscape.
That's completely unique in terms of musically interpreting how something flows through your head because it's not all the time that you get a sense of picturesque tonality just through the music alone.
The EP is four songs but it feels a bit bigger than that and I think that's because the songs can come across impactful which is very refreshing.
What I mean by that, is that these songs have loads of heart just oozing out of every note played.
The record is definitely emotionally driven and they come from a standpoint of maturity in a way so you get the sense of gracefulness, especially in the delivery of the vocals as well.
Mallory certainly has a way of building and arranging her songs so that they're able to wrap themselves around you and keep you right where they want you but in all honesty, it feels really good. You do get that southern kissed instrumentation that flows in and out of the record and these are the things that touch on the Americana feel but the whole thing has an atmosphere to it that has a way of engulfing you.
And again, this feels really good.
The EP feels like a summer sunset in your youth and you're now looking back nostalgically on those days whether they be bad or good.
And that right there, is where the maturity comes in which is much needed for tracks like these.
The artist also has a natural charm to how she delivers her tones and sounds along with this knack for songwriting that still gives you that pop sensibility lurking just beneath the surface.
This release was very well thought out and put together wow always keeping that authentic soul intact and in my opinion, that's something of a rarity.
If you like pretty much any kind of music that can make you feel something, then this is a record you want to check out.
