Mindless Crowd Releases A Full-Length Album
An album release from Mindless Crowd delivers a vast array of songwriting approaches and it all comes through with an almost cinematic rock backbone as the guitars tend to have a little bit of twang to them and throughout it all you get this feeling that the songs are somehow connected in different ways almost like a concept album would be.
The Wanderlust album boasts a bit of a post-punk underbelly and I really like that because it gives me little hints of nostalgia here and there because they're able to nail that aesthetic when they want to.
A lot of this comes down to the guitar tone and how it has certain kinds of effects on it like a light chorus effect, a little bit of reverb, and along with the progressions and performances, all do point towards that classic post-punk approach.
Each of these songs has a bit of an atmosphere and they take you on these little musical journeys that I enjoyed. The deep-toned vocal approach gives everything an animated undertone but that also adds to the personality that comes through on the record.
The drums are amazing on the certain because they give the push and drive that these songs need exactly when they need them so they're able to hit the excitable and explosive parts perfectly.
The guitar work is stellar throughout the entire thing and adds layers of texture and atmosphere to the already lush soundscape of this record.
Some of these songs really bop and you're able to jump around the room with them and sing along but those are the ones that also give a little bit of that cinematic feel as well.
Again, guitars and bass that are drenched in reverb give that vastness and expansive feel which all adds to the cinematic tonality even more.
This was an amazing sort of escape and if you listen to the record from start to finish you really get a great experience all in all.
This is that type of release. It's the type of release that has a bit of a plot to it and the songs connect with each other in different ways, so listening to the full album gives you everything it was meant to.
There are some singles that stand on their own two legs amazingly and would do great radio wise and playlist wise but this is meant to be listened to in full.
It's in-depth album release that gives you layers that you can peel back and that is a lot of fun to do.
Some people will take this in different ways. There will be people who would consider this maybe a folk-rock record of sorts, while others would consider it more of an indie rock record. To me, there are a lot more clean guitars, and gives me a lot more of a post-punk feel than anything else but it also has those folk undertones and rustic sounds as well.
I think that's what's cool about this record also. The combination of the music with the vocals. It's the vocals that really give you that kind of folky baritone rustic feel. While the music has that more electric and post-punk vibe.
It's that combination that makes this special.
Check this record out when you can and again I would highly suggest doing the full album because that's the right way to go.
Set aside a little time to swim through this record because it's super worth it.
