A Lush New Single From Naimh McKinney
A new single release from Niamh McKinney brings out a lush array of vocals that layer over each other to create harmonies and textures that combined with acoustic guitar backing and a little bit of a classic rustic folk stomping vibe that brings everything to an almost cinematic tonality at times.
"Up and Ran" has this amazing building attribute to it that lets the song grow as it plays on and with that the intensity also builds with the music itself and it feels like the vocals become more and more lush and full-bodied as well.
And I think that's one of the most impressive things about this song overall. Those vocals are used almost as an instrument that's meant to create as much more atmosphere for the song as possible and it works like a charm.
This is incredibly creative and a little bit outside the box but it still keeps to this amazingly poppy tonality that combines that classic singer-songwriter and folk approach but brings it into a brighter and more crisp and colorful vibe.
This is the type of song you can tell was incredibly fun to create especially on those vocals because they're layered so much and each layer creates a new harmony which really builds on this whole wave of sound that happens.
This song is a showcase for a youth in songwriters being able to create songs with almost no boundaries or walls built around them.
This aspect of songwriting is incredibly freeing and I think that we need as much of this as humanly possible in music.
This was an excellent single and it sort of triggers you to want to find out more of this artist's technique and material.
A wonderfully woven and intricate single from Niamh McKinney.
