An Album Release from No Thee No Ess
A new album release from No thee no ess gives off a wondrous combination of dream undertones and vast feeling soundscape blended with Americana country, and classic rock along with more and it's all rolled into one beautifully woven record and riddled with character from beginning to end.
The Distant Country album does indeed come through with an array of lush and colorful instrumentation from lap steel to violin, along with classic guitar, keys, and so much more but what makes it work is the way the songs are arranged and how they come through with the cinematic backbone half the time.
There's something about this album that screams of nostalgia and you can tell that some of these songs have an old-school songwriting approach to them, even lyrically the songs feel like they were written in the '70s at times.
The string sections really let the song come through with a robust production and it gives the songs even more of a cinematic feel and an emotional platform to build off of as well at times but it all feels and sounds so orchestrated that it's beautiful, and you just can't turn away from that.
You do indeed get some classic country bangers in here with twangy guitar tones and rolling snare drums along with some more swing-feeling rhythms but it all has this genuine aesthetic to it.
There's something about this record that makes you know almost immediately that you should be listening to it in full from beginning to end because some of these songs interconnect with each other in different ways almost like a concept album might.
If you listen to only one or two tracks from this record, you will be missing out on the full spectrum of what the album actually has to offer.
Believe me, some amazing singles stand on their own two feet incredibly well here but you still want to soak in the full record to get the picture.
There's a lot going on throughout some of these songs and others feel a little bit more cut and dry but on all you have a beautiful record that speaks volumes for the group and you can hear that old soul really shine throughout this entire release.
This is the kind of thing you really want from a record like this.
You want to be able to feel that old soul coming through because these are classic country and Americana, folk, and singer-songwriter tracks that all have this classic orchestrated symphonic backbone to them.
The vocals push that aesthetic even more with amazing harmonies and a classic approach but they also add a beautiful layer of melody to everything and it lets you feel how the instruments in the vocals have a magical way of complimenting each other throughout the record.
This was a very immense and massive opus of a release but it was done with such a beautiful touch and a graceful approach with performances that had heart, and I feel like some of these songs have been written for years and now we're just finally coming out.
Listen to this record in full if you can because it's well worth it to do it that way, and see how it affects you.
