Raquel Aurilia Drops An Honest and Emotionally Impactful Single
A new single from Raquel Aurilia comes through with a very honest approach lyrically, and that in itself is so authentic that you end up connecting with it almost immediately.
The way she tells her story is a bit unafraid. She puts a lot of inner thoughts out there, which I found brave and incredibly relatable. A lot of people of a certain age have been through exactly what she's talking about.
The song is called "Rearview", and from listening to the song a few times you can sort of tell that it's about a relationship. It's not exactly generalized, but it's a situation where you have to deal with the direction the relationship is going, certain kinds of feelings you might have about the other person or that they might have about you, and a decision is meant to be made.
These kinds of decisions can be really difficult because they're so emotionally bound, and Raquel is able to capture that incredibly well.
As the song unfolds, you start to get the full picture, and again, she's not afraid to get into some detail, get descriptive, and open up.
Because it's such an honest song and a lot of us can really relate to it, it has character. It showcases such a huge portion of a personality, simply because she gives it.
Raquel is obviously someone who gives those pieces of herself in her music, probably because she needs to. It feels as if the song may have been therapeutic for Raquel to write and release.
I like this because it shows that genuine aspect. She's not holding much back. She's using her art form to express the emotion she has felt going through her situation.
The thing about a song like this is that it lets us feel like we're not alone. A lot of us have been through this situation, as I mentioned before, but many of us don't know how to articulate that explanation into words, let alone words and music, so when we hear a song like this, we certainly feel like it was a song meant for us.
Obviously, it was meant for Raquel, but when you hear it, you understand that others go through it as well, and you feel less estranged because of it.
I love a song that makes you feel or think. This song does both.
The track feels like a blend of pop, rock, hints of contemporary, and Americana. There's a lot of lush and flowing guitars along with harmonizing, beautifully performed vocals that really showcase passion and heart.
She got some great hooks throughout this track as well. The chorus itself is super memorable and has a way of bouncing around in your head for hours or even days after the song has ended.
There's also a bit of a spaciousness in its underbelly. The song feels a bit cinematic, but then, that could also be because of all the emotional backbone that's portrayed.
The way that she expresses how she held on as long as she could, and fought for what she thought was the right thing, is gorgeous. Just the way she articulates those lyrics is something that reminds you that being in relationships can be an absolute roller coaster of emotion.
The guitar work across this single really is outstanding. Not only the layers of texture and how they come together, but the melodic drive that they deliver along with the power behind the vocals is pretty much perfect.
Raquel's performance with her singing is also something that, again, comes through very heartfelt and authentic. You can tell this was real and that she's pulling from that particular place to deliver vocals that have passion behind them.
The song is impactful and quite powerful, should be listened to with headphones on, and portrays an artist who is not really afraid to show some of her vulnerability and get things off her chest because she has to.
It's a great example of how artists like Raquel utilize their life to create their music so that they can express themselves exactly how they feel they need to.
She's able to completely nail the feelings that go along with this particular kind of relationship-based situation. The choices that have to be made, the holding on, the reasoning with yourself, and the stresses that go with all of it.
I definitely suggest checking this one out, especially if you like music that does make you feel something. If you're not too familiar with Raquel's music up to now, then I strongly suggest checking out songs like "The Big Stage", and "Do it All Again", as those also show different sides to her personality and how she writes her music.
She certainly pulls from a bunch of different influences that she holds close to her heart, but in doing so creates something that is solely hers and hers alone.

Yes, it was personal for me and writing it was definitely cathartic. I’m sure many people
can relate to the lyrics.
What was this song about and where did it come from?
“Rearview”’is a song about reaching a “cross road” so to speak in a relationship that’s
taken a turn. It’s about struggling internally with your feelings and doing what’s best for
yourself.
Are you performing the song live at all?
I have not performed this one live yet but will definitely do so at my next show.
I’m currently looking into shows and venues.as we speak!!
Did you have a producer for this release, or is it all you?
Billy Smiley is the Producer and co-writer on this track with me.
Was it recorded at a big studio, or a home DAW setup?
It was recorded in Franklin, Tennessee at “The Castle” which is a pretty popular
recording studio.
I can certainly hear several influences on this! Who are your biggest musical
inspirations?
My taste in music is all over the place. My biggest musical influences are in different
genres with Billy Joel, Elton John, Wynonna, and Stevie Nicks to name a few.
Now that this is released, what's next for you?
We are promoting this song (and some of my others) everywhere you can stream online
and also shopping it to other artists as well.
When did all of this begin for you as an artist?
I started my professional journey in music after I got my Master’s Degree. I never know
how to get started with my music until a friend introduced me to Grammy Award Winner
Tony Papa in Los Angeles. We met at his studio and ended up recording my very first
album!
You've done great so far! Any advice you'd have for other up and coming artists
out there?
Thank you so much.
I think my advice to up and coming artists would be to try and write and record as much
as possible and collaborate as well. With social media now, there are so many greatways to promote your music and I highly recommend using these platforms as much as
possible to promote yourself and build a fan base.
What would you say people can expect from this release?
I will continue to promote “Rearview” on social media and everywhere you can stream
music. I also plan to do a music video in the next few months when I get back to
Nashville.
Is there anything you'd want to express to fans?
I would just like to express my gratitude to my fans who have taken the time to listen to
my music and support and interact with me on social media. I really do appreciate all
the support. It means the world to me!
