A Vintage Style Single From Sean Fleming

The latest single release from Sean Fleming delivers a classic and vintage style songwriting approach that feels like it came from the late '50s or early 1960s with a doo-wop style rhythm, tone, and even backing vocals.
"I Won't Let This Love Get Away" was arranged phenomenally. The whole thing shows that classic songwriting aesthetic, even in how the performances have a vintage reverb effect on the guitars and harmonized backing vocals in classic doo-wop style. The premise of the track is something you would hear in songs of that era also.
I love how he can nail this aesthetic and still keep things fresh in a particular way.
There are some great surprises around the corner, like a pretty outstanding bridge towards the end of the song before the last chorus that goes into way more of a jam feel and has an updated style synth that runs its course.
I love that he just threw this section in there to break things up because it worked perfectly and changed the feel and mood of the track for that little chunk of time.
This song was so inspirational and spirited because of how he approached it.
The energy of this is amazing because it feels almost like a live performance. It has a strange way of putting you there, in the moment and making it feel like you were watching it happen right in front of your face.
Sean Fleming has an amazing grasp of how to write a catchy song and doesn't do this by following guidelines. He writes whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Whatever strikes the mood, that's what he will write in the style of.
There's a single release just before this one called "Other Desert Cities", which bears much more of a gypsy style folk approach with outstanding overlaying guitar work and this vast undertone that makes it feel cinematic.
Another song released in 2022 called "Love Crimes" gives off a kind of Chris Isaac style feel still with that vest underbelly and expansive soundscape along with a beautifully smooth flow.
So you see, Sean will write in different styles depending on the mood.
Perhaps he's inspired by different eras of songwriting at different times, but either way, whatever he puts out there has some heart to it and, again, puts you in the moment.
One thing I could say is that there is this element of dreaminess to these songs. There's something that engulfs you and lets you float right alongside these tones, textures, and soundscapes.
I find this all captivating and very beautiful as the songs come through cinematic and lush.
Sean is an LA-based musician who seems to have been releasing songs since 2017. You can find his first release, "Glow Worms", on Spotify.
There is always something a little bit different being brought to the table with his songs, and this most recent single was a really interesting turn and direction for him.
There seems to always be a little bit of experimentation in his releases, which I adore, and it shows his level of creativity in being able to bring vastness and color to a single track.
I suggest starting with this track and working your way back through his catalog, as it's a lot of fun to do just that.
There are plenty of layers to be peeled back here and it's best doing so with headphones on so you can really soak in all the textures and elements going around in these atmospheres.
Check this all out as soon as you can and see what it does for you.
I will certainly be looking out for whatever Sean Fleming is dropping next.
