Fuego, the new album from Steve Aliment, is a heartfelt blend of Americana and Country that explores a wide emotional and musical range. Across 14 tracks, the record leans into a Country tone while allowing room for other influences to flow naturally, touching on roots-rock and soul. The result is a record that feels both grounded and adventurous, staying true to tradition while taking on some freedom.
Throughout the album, Steve is joined by Annie O’Neill, whose vocal and lyrical presence adds balance to say the least. Together, they create a sound that feels honest and lived-in. There’s a strong emphasis on storytelling, with lyrics that humanize and connect
Each song on Fuego carries its own weight, and none feel like filler.
"I wrote most of these songs in 2023 and '24", said Aliment. These songs are from experiences and adventures, some parts true, some parts fiction. I kept a journal and wrote down song ideas and weaved them into some kind of a three and a half minute stories. Then, we got together as a band and fine tuned the arrangements and created a sound that is heavy on guitars and sweet harmony singing. We didn't really set out to make an album. We recorded these songs one-by-one and then, when we had a dozen or so, it was like hey, these sound good together, let's release an album! Turned out to be our best one yet!" - Steve Aliment
The personal touch behind every lyric and performance is evident all the way through the album but for listeners just diving in, “Down the Line” and “Tacoma to Tupelo” are standout tracks that showcase the album’s range. These songs highlight the strength of the songwriting and the chemistry that drives the full record.
Fuego is available now on Spotify and just about every streaming platform out there.
We suggest you tune in.
