The Illustrative Violet

Our featured artist is a band called The Illustrative Violet which has very recently dropped a live EP that's above and beyond in terms of prog rock and the band breeds an experimental technique into their music even in a live setting or, perhaps especially in a live setting.
The Live from The Mandala release has five songs on it each with its own striking and animated sensibility.
Marvelous execution from each band member pulled off with a coherent and excited sort of elegance but not without an incredible zeal and enthusiasm that gives the EP a spirited voice.
This is a release that you can listen to over and over and never get bored because there are so many impeccable changes that are not only awe-inspiring but have a way of catching you off guard.
It's unbelievable to think that this is a live record.
"We had wanted to capture our live sound for quite some time so when Scott joined the band we decided to record 3 of our newest songs at the time as well as 2 of our older songs live in a studio. We recorded them at Fistpipe Studio owned by our friend Mason Hensley in Rancho Cucamonga, California" The Illustrative Violet
The band takes noise and prog-rock and melts it with math rock and even subtle instances of post-hardcore.
A thick-skinned but inventive and fervent release from the illustrative violet is most certainly for anyone who loves bands from King Crimson to Rush but also bands like Dream Theater or The Mars Volta.
These guys seem to cover it all.
Dig into this record and it'll be hard for you to stop.
The record is out on Spotify and you can check the band out on thier website or Insta to learn even more about them.
