A Welcoming Release From The South Austin Moonlighters
An album release from The South Austin Moonlighters delivers a refreshing and lush Americana and rock approach that brings together the two genres seamlessly and creates this sort of atmosphere that tells stories with great detail and delivers classic undertones with backing vocal harmonies all done with enough character for you to really hold on to and not let go.
The From Here to Home album has more than a few surprises around the corners but is delivered with a beautiful energy that almost feels like these songs were recorded live on the floor and the players are just feeding off of each other the entire time which really gives the record the feeling of being alive and breathing in a way.
The guitar work across this record is outstanding and is performed with as much soul as the vocals and just about everything else on the record and that's a big part of the persona and whole vibe that this record gives off. It's got soul.
You can't get away from this live sort of energy no matter what. It's so infectious and even though I could be wrong about the whole live on the floor thing, listening to this record makes you want to see these guys live in your face because if the energy captured on record is this impactful and robust, then seeing it live must just be outstanding.
This record has a southern and almost rustic undertone that makes the songs come through really warm and welcoming so some of them feel like you've been listening to them on the radio for years now while others just simply feel welcoming.
In a way, you can sort of hear everyone's influence being put into the record because you do have that classic vocal harmony backing on a lot of the songs but you also have that guitar tone coming through with just the right amount of twang on it.
The lead vocalist definitely has a genuinely passionate performance and just belts out when he wants to so that you really get a sort of impactful feel from a lot of these songs and you also get a certain level of honesty and some detail that lets you paint pictures in your head at times.
You can tell that a lot of these tracks came from someplace real and have some emotional drive behind them but no matter what this whole record has heart and that may be the most important aspect of it all.
I think we all need more music that lets us think and makes us feel the way that this record does because that's part of what real art is about to me.
This is a group of people that have a pure love for their craft and when I say that, I don't mean playing their instruments or singing, I mean creating songs together to put out into the world so that people can dance and sing along, think and feel.
This record for the most part, feels super good to listen to and in a way this is the kind of record that you want to listen to from beginning to end without skipping tracks because if you only listen to one or two songs then you're not getting the full spectrum of what the record has to offer.
I adore albums like that because those are the ones that do indeed have surprises around the corners and have a lot more to offer than just what's on the surface.
I would suggest listening to this record nice and Loud because there are certain tracks that you'll be singing along with by the second or third chorus around guaranteed.
Check this out when you can and like I said before, listen to the whole record because it's worth your time to say the least, especially if you're a fan of driving Americana, country, and rock with a little hint of blues here and there but with an energy that comes through electric.
