A New Release from TONEWULF

If you haven't heard much from Tonewulf, then let us be among the first to bring you up to date, as a new EP just dropped via Oblong Square Records and the release brings together a soiree of beautiful electronic atmospheres that range from a chill and downtempo feel to experimental, atmospheric, and even a little edginess.
The EP is called The Heavy, and the record starts off with an experimental but inventive and funk-oriented groove that blends together some great synth and ketones and also keeps that expansive underbelly at the same time. The track is called "Djengo Incognito", and it's one of my favorites on the record but also does a great job of introducing you to this release.
Now, this is an EP you should listen to in full because no two songs are alike and there are some surprises that come up along with fluctuations in intensities and atmospheres.
Other tracks like " The Silicon Jungle" come through in a dream-like soundscape and have some piano at its roots, along with this beautiful flow that feels like you're levitating a few inches above the ground.
I love the way some of these tracks make you feel. They are so spacious and have a wonderful way of swimming around in the air surrounding you.
It's all very beautiful, and I think the experimental side of this release gives it its edge.
By the time you get a few songs into the record, you begin to expect the unexpected, which I adore.
Having said that, there are staple sounds to this EP as well.
The closing track on the record, which is definitely an amazing one is called "You're Getting Carried Away", which gives off more of and electronic feel but doesn't stray far from that experimental approach as it does still provide unique tones and keys that are all part of what builds the aesthetic of the entire release.
Again, there are no two songs that are alike, so there are different tones and key sounds throughout the whole record, but you still have a confluence that serves as the glue that holds everything together.
There's a lot of lush and gorgeous textures and layers throughout the EP and each song has a different sort of mood and takes you on a different journey.
They're almost like chapters.
One of the things I love most about releases like this one is that it sets the tone but lets your brain go free.
Wherever your mind wants to travel as it's listening to this record, it will.
It gives you a certain kind of freedom because it's so good at laying out those moods and textures for you to start with.
This is a record with plenty of ambient tonality, personality, moods, and attributes that make it unique but somehow welcoming at the same time.
The production is Stellar across the board. All these songs have crisp polish but a warm and thick low end while remaining as ambient as it needs to be.
The aesthetic and mix of this release are spot on for the soundscape that it's going for.
This was cinematic and refreshing from beginning to end, and when you listen to it, do it with headphones because this kind of thing needs to be heard with a surround-sound approach so you can take it in the way it was meant to be.
A beautiful release from Tonewulf, dive into The Heavy and see what it evokes for you.
