A new single from Koontz just released and this is a track that delivers a sort of funk rock vibe which is backed by deep pocketed percussion and grooves and some outstanding, soulful, and colorful guitar work that all come together to create something that you end up falling right into but, this is a song with a message and that is what stands the tallest about it.
"Crisis" is a track that you start driving with right from the get-go because you can't help but move your body to that funk rhythm. Again, the guitar work is outstanding here and delivers something you want to get up and move your body to, along with influences of classic rock just flowing through its veins.
The vocals are performed with the same kind of passion or soul, if you will, and it helps drive not only the musical soundscape and energy of the track, but its sentiment as well.
This is a single that feels like it's an anti-war track, and I love it because it gets into detail about sending troops out and how war in general doesn't really resolve much, but only creates more war. Now, this is how I'm taking the song, and others might take it a little differently, but for me, the sentiment was pretty cut and dry.
We are a country that has been involved in many wars, and right now is a time where there's a lot going on. There are a lot of publicized aspects to the things that are happening in the world via media, social media, and the news.
It's a time where it's hard to believe what's real and what's not, but what is right in our faces is the threat of war, and this is something that I don't think the country has ever really evaded.
The only thing that war ever created was death, and I think that's part of what the song is about. It doesn't resolve anything in actuality. It just creates more aggression and builds tension further for everyone.
The general public doesn't have a lot of say as to what goes on in the political world, or the governmental one, for that matter, and that's quite unfortunate, but either way, it's songs like this that kind of stand out.
I think it takes guts to write anti-war songs, and I've always felt that way. Anti-war songs have been around for decades and decades.
Koontz delivers his message loud and clear and does so with a bit of Rock backbone, pop coding, that endless display of funk that drives the song through the roof, and I feel like it's something that is needed right now.
I think anti-war songs or something that does actually make a difference. It gets other people listening and understanding things. Maybe after listening to this track, some people will see it in a different light.
Either way, this is something that we need right now, and I'm surprised I haven't heard more anti-war tracks like this one by now.
As I mentioned before, there's a lot going on in the world, and I think it's up to taste makers and people who are able to use their creative ability to express themselves to deliver these kinds of messages.
For me, artists like Kevin Koontz stand at the forefront and have released something that makes perfect sense.
As usual, he puts everything into his music, pays attention to the arrangement and composition, and delivers something that's got a bit of atmosphere and depth to it while still being able to rock out with a brilliant subtlety and a certain kind of warmth in its tone.
The guitar work is always great, and this track is no exception. There's some excellent guitar stuff going on throughout this whole thing, and the percussion and drumming help drive that classic rock vibe as well.
So, not only is this a song with a message that's important, especially for right now, but also gives you this danceable vintage rock atmosphere, and for me, it's almost like a callback to anti-war songs from the '60s.
This was very cool, and I definitely paid a lot of attention to this song lyrically. I loved listening to it two or three times because when you do that, you're able to pick up on everything. There's some stuff that you miss out on the first couple of listens, and lyrically, you don't want to miss much here.
It does send a message across, but it does so with particular points and details that you want to pay attention to to really understand where he is coming from with everything.
Definitely check this track out as soon as you can, and if you haven't heard any other releases from Koontz, then check out his previous single, "The Point", which was a very personal track that displayed a lot of honesty and detail lyrically.
I think that this artist has a particular way with words and isn't really afraid to use that in his music.
That's the sign of a real artist. Not really holding back but letting more out instead.
Letting people see the point, hear the message, or paint the picture in their mind.
This was a great song and I suggest checking it out as soon as you can.
