A Killer Release From Morgue Terror
A new EP release from Morgue Terror brings out a fierce and furious set of thrash metal singles that together almost like a concept record would and the whole thing feels like a sucker punch to the gut and I mean that in the best way possible.
The self-titled release is a combination of classic death metal and vigorous thrash that come together and deliver some heavy-hitting tracks and it's all got crazy energy and feels almost like the tracks were recorded live on the floor to an extent it's like the players are just feeding off of each other the entire time it's alive and breathing approach.
Even if I'm wrong about that, this definitely makes you want to go see them alive just because like this on record then live they must really be face-melting.
The guitar tones in the riffs are all super brutal and the drumming is just like a machine gun, super in the pocket and also gives these songs immense drive.
Here's the thing about a record like this, people that don't listen to a lot of metal, especially death metal, have a lot of trouble understanding that there's actual heart and skill behind a record like this one.
The level of musicianship on this record is awesome and everyone comes together so well that you can tell that this whole man has an absolute love for their craft and I don't just mean their instruments, I mean writing songs together and putting them out there into the world.
Is this horror themed thrash and death metal?
Hell yes, it is and it's damn good at that but do you really understand what it takes to be able to put together a themed metal EP the way this one is done?
Probably not.
One of my favorite aspects about this whole record is just the riffs or the guitar tones themselves of the growling destructive drums.
It's the way that these songs come together.
The great breakdowns, they give you sections where you can just turn your living room into a mosh pit if everyone there is up for it.
I love a record with a good theme and this one is actually inspired not just by horror movies in general, but by a series in particular called Terrifier which features a psychotic clown hacking and slashing people to bits.
His name is Art the Clown and these guys have taken the time to put together an entire EP release based on the horror icon.
I've seen both Terrifier movies and I can tell you that a few of these songs would go well in certain scenes of either film.
If you're not too familiar with the films themselves, you watch them on certain streaming media outlets but unless you're a real true slasher horror film fan, they might be a little too.
Much for Morgue Terror, however, it was inspirational.
I honestly find it to be quite a beautiful thing having heard this massive EP and all its glorious brutality knowing that another work of art inspired it.
There was a lot of attention to detail throughout the creation of this record there's no doubt there, but it never loses that inspiration that it starts with and it never loses that gusto and that crazy energy that it gives off from beginning to end.
This is one of those records that you should really listen to the whole way through as a full ep because that's the way it was meant to be soaked in.
This was indeed a concept record and one based on a murderous clown horror icon in the making.
How could you possibly go wrong?
These guys crushed this release with everything they have and have certainly hit all the sweet spots that you want from death metal thrash metal classic metal and more
The record is set to release on the 5th of January but you can listen to a few songs right now.
Metal fans and horror fans check this out and remember where you heard it first.
